Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of KidLock ("the app", "we", "our"). By installing or using KidLock, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Description of Service

KidLock is a parental control application that allows parents and guardians to restrict which apps a child can access on an Android device, set daily time limits, and monitor app usage. The app operates entirely on-device.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to install and configure KidLock. The app is intended to be set up by a parent or legal guardian. You are solely responsible for how the app is used on devices you manage.

3. Account and Security

• You are responsible for keeping your parent PIN secure. Anyone with the PIN can access parent settings and deactivate Kid Mode.
• We do not have access to your PIN or any way to recover it. If you forget your PIN, you must clear the app's data or reinstall it.
• Do not share your PIN with the child or anyone who should not have parent-level access.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

• KidLock offers a free tier with limited features and paid subscription tiers (Premium monthly, Premium yearly, and Lifetime) that unlock additional functionality.
• All purchases are processed through Google Play Billing. By subscribing, you also agree to Google Play's Terms of Service.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through Google Play subscriptions.
• Refunds are handled by Google Play according to their refund policy.
• If your subscription expires, premium features will be locked and the app will revert to the free tier limits. Your data will not be deleted.

5. Permitted Use

You may use KidLock only to manage devices that you own or have legal authority to manage (e.g., your child's device). You must not use KidLock to:

• Monitor or restrict devices belonging to people who have not consented
• Stalk, harass, or surveil another person
• Circumvent laws or regulations in your jurisdiction
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the app

6. Limitations and Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:

• The app will block every unauthorized app in every situation. Device manufacturers, OS updates, and accessibility service changes can affect behavior.
• The monitoring service will run uninterrupted. Some Android devices aggressively kill background services despite battery optimization exemptions.
• The app is a substitute for parental supervision. KidLock is a tool to assist you, not a replacement for active involvement in your child's device use.

7. Device Permissions

KidLock requires several sensitive Android permissions (Usage Access, Accessibility Service, Device Administrator, Display Over Other Apps) to function. By granting these permissions, you acknowledge that:

• These permissions are necessary for the app's core parental control functionality
• The Accessibility Service is used solely to detect foreground app changes, not to read screen content
• Device Administrator is used solely to prevent uninstallation, not to erase data or change device settings

8. Intellectual Property

KidLock and all associated content, design, and code are our intellectual property. These terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for its intended purpose.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to:

• A child accessing unauthorized content due to a failure in app blocking
• Data loss resulting from uninstallation, device reset, or app data clearing
• Inability to access parent settings due to a forgotten PIN
• Service interruptions caused by device manufacturer restrictions

10. Termination

You may stop using KidLock at any time by deactivating Kid Mode and uninstalling the app. We reserve the right to discontinue the app or modify its features. Active subscriptions will be honored through the end of the paid period if the app is discontinued.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the new terms. Material changes will be communicated through an app update.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of your jurisdiction. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of your jurisdiction.
